Do you hear all this noise? It's frightening.
The sky is pink, and orange, and yellow all washed-out by the grey of the clouds.
A group of people is going by, they are laughing, they are living.
And I wonder how.
I'm trying to understand, how can I go by? How can I laugh? How can I live?
Why aren't they walking alone?
The room is getting dark, the colors have faded.
I can't hear the people anymore, but they are still walking around my brain.
They are going by, they are laughing, they are living.
Getting my head through the window, I am looking at the trees. Looking right in their eyes.
"I'm sorry", I tell them.
You didn't deserve this.
"You are precious", I tell them.
And I wonder why I don't hear it coming from everywhere.
Why is there only this scary noise?
The noise of life going on, of people going by.
As if it was all ok. As if all around us wasn't screaming.
But the noise is too loud, too loud to listen with our ears.
I wonder if people can listen with their hearts.
I wonder if people can look at trees right in their eyes.
Just like they can go by,
Just like they can laugh,
Just like they can live.
I hope they can look at trees right in their eyes.
And tell them they are sorry.
Stop going by.
Stop laughing.
Stop living if just for a moment.
And tell them they are sorry.
I hope people can be alone and look at themselves.
At the sky full of pink, and orange, and yellow.
Hear all this scary noise they are making. Hear it with their hearts.
Then maybe they can all be silent, we can all be silent.
Be silent while all around it's getting dark.
And wait the night out.
Wait alongside the trees, the rivers, the critters running under our feet.
Tell them all they are precious,
That we never meant it and that we are sorry.
Maybe then I can go by.
Maybe then I can laugh.
Maybe then I can live.
